1. Empty Your Pockets.
Sure it seems simple enough, but how many times have we removed laundry from the washing machine only to find frayed pieces of tissue paper everywhere? When the struggle is real and your clothing looks somewhat dandruff-infested, note to self: must empty pockets before washing.
2. Use a Suede Brush.
Since a winter wardrobe typically consists of heavy coats, thick sweaters and various woollen accessories, it's no secret that these often consume the most space. When you don't have a spacious wardrobe, your clothes aren't able to breathe properly - making them more prone to collect dirt. So after you wear a winter garment, simply use a suede brush or a lint remover to clean your clothing before placing these back into your closet. These fabric care items eradicate fluff, lint and dust.
3. Cold Hand Wash.
Though sweaters are a winter favourite, looking after them can be a real hassle. Cashmere in particular, along with certain velvets, must be hand washed in cold water to avoid fraying, losing softness or potentially damaging these more delicate materials. After you've hand washed these, solely leave them to airdry.
4. Know the Power of Folding.
Folding your clothes can sometimes be more beneficial than using hangers. Not only do you save cupboard space by minimising the reach of each garment, but you also maintain their greater state; lessening wrinkles and pleats. This also averts hauling and stretching, which commonly result from using hangers. And if folded well, your garment will be ready-to-wear when you are!
5. Steam Clean Your Wool.
It's strongly advised to dry clean woollen clothing, but for those willing or in a hurry - steam cleaning is your best bet. Steam cleaning is just as easy as it is beneficial, proving the remarkable power to remove most stains. After steam cleaning your garments, you need to then hang-dry them; a great way to also efface wrinkles.
6. Wash Your Accessories.
