1. James Dean
When he wasn't a Rebel Without a Cause (1955) in his famous red Harrington jacket, he was simply James; a man whose effortless rebellion and tender nature made him a remarkable icon.
The ever-infatuating James Dean held an off-duty style so in sync with his winsome personality, as he often wore denim jeans or khaki trousers along with a plain dress shirt and a woollen sweater to match. Though regardless of the occasion, Dean was always the master of cool and the ladies certainly agreed.
2. Clark Gable
He was the man who frankly, didn't give a damn. Clark Gable, timelessly renowned for his leading role in the all-time classic Gone with the Wind (1939), proved the alpha male of the Hollywood era, or as he is forever known, the "King of Hollywood". Through his wit, vigour and nobility, Gable was the epic embodiment of what it meant to be a gentleman and he suit-ed the part at ease - always well-dressed in fine attire.
3. Fred Astaire
Just like Madonna sang in her hit 'Vogue', Fred Astaire was truly the man who danced on air. Astaire was the musical marvel that had audiences far and near mesmerised by his manifold talent, which propelled an incredibly successful and long career, gifting the silver screen with phenomenal work including Top Hat (1935) and the legendary Funny Face (1957) co-starring Audrey Hepburn. And his style? An immaculate combination of the whimsical and dapper gentleman.
4. Marlon Brando
Marlon Brando is a name almost impossible to forget, and if you don't already know it - you should. Long before he was the incomparable Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather (1972), or before his steamy Last Tango in Paris released the same year, Marlon Brando had already changed the game with his breakout performance in A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). Simply put, Brando was the boss in more ways than one.
5. Humphrey Bogart
While world renowned for his memorable roles in The Maltese Falcon (1941) and The Big Sleep (1946), it's almost impossible to not call the great Humphrey Bogart 'Rick', due to his irrevocable lead in the famous Casablanca (1942) - universally deemed one of the greatest movies of all time.
