A Gorgeous Story
In 1999, driven by a desire to provide his clients with more than just a face of make up for the day, Gorgeous Cosmetics founder David McConnell embarked on a journey of research and development that ultimately brought his now well-known brand to the market.
When David began his career as a qualified make-up artist and hairdresser, he distinguished himself from very early on, attracting multiple Australian industry awards over successive years. By the age of twenty David had opened his first boutique in Toorak, one of Melbourne’s most well-known and prestigious suburbs. He quickly found himself with a cult following, providing make-up not only for brides but for catwalk models and celebrities. Through sharing his techniques and intelligence on the qualities of make-up product, David’s high level of skill and service inspired a loyal and growing following.
His client base grew, as did his desire to produce his own range of superior, easy-to-use products that would empower each woman with the knowledge and confidence to achieve real glamour every day. After careful research and development a small range of integral pieces was put into production. Demand flourished among industry professionals. Driven by client demand, David was soon responding to requests from retail outlets.
After initially commencing operations in wholesale cosmetics, supplying department stores, cosmetic concept stores and hair and beauty salons Australia-wide, Gorgeous Cosmetics launched their first retail concept store in the fashionable suburb of Prahran, Melbourne, in 2005. Since then, David has expanded his stable to six outlets throughout Australia’s Eastern seaboard and is now set to expand internationally, one gorgeous face at a time.
