In 2006 friends Janelle Barboza and Eloise Monaghan, tired of not being able to find provocative lingerie and luxury bedroom toys, set out to inject a sense of sensuality into the bedroom. Instead of opening yet another lingerie store, filled with beige practical-looking lingerie, they decided to search for the most provocative local and international designers.
With their lingerie inspired packaging and suggestively named products, Honey Birdette boutiques are flirty, playful and unapologetically sensual. The pair met while both working in the United Kingdom and discovered they had a mutual interest in the lingerie available in European high streets.
“The idea is to give Brisbane residents their pick of unique, quality lingerie and other playthings. Our lingerie is sexy, sophisticated and exclusive,” says Ms Barboza.
The pair have also just released Honey Birdette’s own lingerie label which has just hit the shelves. Designed with Italian fabrics Eloise says the Coco Collection is quite unlike anything the Australian market has ever seen before, finding inspiration from visual arts and film. Dominant, striking and of course highly provocative, the collection is sure to please.
